Sunday in London

 The church building being renovated

We all looked forward to seeing what church would be like in London!  We leave for the bus at 8:15 to get to 9:00 church.  The regular church building is located right between several amazing museums (Science, Natural History, Victoria & Albert.)  It is currently being renovated, so the ward meets at a rented building down the street.  They are adding a visitor center to the regular building and want the whole thing finished in time for the 2012 Summer Olympics coming here next summer.  The ward has a 2-hour block of meetings due to the meeting-space constraints.

The first thing we noticed were the words "Hyde Park Ward" on the program.  We felt right at home because when we lived in Chicago we lived in another "Hyde Park Ward."  Our first Sunday here was the Primary Program w/ some British speaking primary voices mixed in.  It is a very nice ward that feels much like any urban ward in a big city - a very diverse mix of people with a lot change.  We quickly met several families similar to ours.  Austin even found an old elementary school friend who lives here now with his wife and 4 children!

I'm still in awe at such a wonderful adventure. Two hour church would be just fine with me. :)
